Fog
Fog is formed by very small water droplets accumulated in the air. Fog occurs when the humidity in the air is high, and the temperature is low.
עֲרָפֶל נוֹצָר בִּגְלַל חֶלְקִיקִים קְטַנִּים מְאוֹד שֶׁל מַיִם שֶׁמִּצְטַבְּרִים בָּאֲוִיר. עֲרָפֶל מוֹפִיעַ כַּאֲשֶׁר הַלַּחוּת בָּאֲוִיר גְּבוֹהָה וְהַטֶּמְפֵּרָטוּרָה נְמוּכָה.
Fog is especially common on cool mornings after humid nights.
הָעֲרָפֶל מוֹפִיעַ בִּמְיוּחָד בִּבְקָרִים קְרִירִים אַחֲרֵי לֵילוֹת לַחִים.
It is very dangerous to drive when there is fog. I was once driving in a car and suddenly I entered a fog and couldn't see anything in front of me. It was very foggy. I slowed down the car and drove slowly until I reached a place where the fog had cleared up.
זֶה מְסוּכָּן מְאוֹד לִנְהוֹג כְּשֶׁיֵּשׁ עֲרָפֶל.
פַּעַם נָסַעְתִּי בָּרֶכֶב, וּפִתְאוֹם נִכְנַסְתִּי לְ תוֹךְ עֲרָפֶל וְלֹא רָאִיתִי כְּלוּם לְפָנַי. הָיָה עֲרָפֶל כָּבֵד. הֵאַטְתִּי אֶת מְהִירוּת הָרֶכֶב, וְנָסַעְתִּי מַמָּשׁ מַמָּשׁ לְאַט עַד שֶׁהִגַּעְתִּי לְמָקוֹם שֶׁבּוֹ הָעֲרָפֶל הִתְפַּזֵּר כְּבָר.
When the fog is strong, we use the adjectives 'heavy fog' or 'thick fog'.
כַּאֲשֶׁר הָעֲרָפֶל חָזָק אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בִּשְׁמוֹת הַתּוֹאַר 'עֲרָפֶל כָּבֵד' אוֹ 'עֲרָפֶל סָמִיךְ'.
