Nonsenses in tomato juice

In fact, this expression has nothing to do with tomatoes, it's just a nice rhyme.

לְמַעֲשֶׂה, לַבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה אֵין שׁוּם קֶשֶׁר לְעַגְבָנִיּוֹת, זֶה פָּשׁוּט חָרוּז נֶחְמָד.

To be honest, I read that this expression came to Hebrew from the German language. In German, they say: "Nonsense with sauce". There is also a similar expression in Russian that means "Nonsense with oil".

לְמַעַן הָאֱמֶת, קָרָאתִי שֶׁהַבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה הִגִּיעַ לָעִבְרִית מֵהַשָּׂפָה הַגֶּרְמָנִית. בַּשָּׂפָה הַגֶּרְמָנִית אוֹמְרִים: שְׁטוּיוֹת עִם רוֹטֶב". גַּם בַּשָּׂפָה הָרוּסִית יֵשׁ בִּיטּוּי דּוֹמֶה שֶׁמַּשְׁמָעוּתוֹ הִיא "שְׁטוּיוֹת עִם שֶׁמֶן".

Despite the nice rhyme, there are also those who replace the tomatoes and say: "Nonsense in strawberry juice" and there is also "Nonsense with lettuce juice" (Who the hell drinks lettuce juice???).

לַמְרוֹת הֶחָרוּז הַנֶּחְמָד יֵשׁ גַּם כָּאֵלֶּה שֶׁמַּחֲלִיפִים אֶת הָעַגְבָנִיּוֹת וְאוֹמְרִים: שְׁטוּיוֹת בְּמִיץ תּוּתִים" וְיֵשׁ גַּם "שְׁטוּיוֹת בְּמִיץ חַסָּה" (מִי, לַעֲזָאזֵל, שׁוֹתֶה מִיץ חַסָּה???)

We use this expression to express disrespect for unwise or incorrect things that someone else says.

אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בַּבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה כְּדֵי לְהַבִּיעַ זִלְזוּל בִּדְבָרִים לֹא חֲכָמִים אוֹ לֹא נְכוֹנִים שֶׁמִּישֶׁהוּ אַחֵר אוֹמֵר.
