A broom - Brooms
The broom(mata’ate) is a cleaning tool that has a long handle, with a wooden piece attached to it, and bristles (hairs) connected to the wood.
הַמַּטְאֲטֵא הוּא אֲבִיזַר נִקָּיוֹן שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ מַקֵּל אָרוֹךְ וְאֵלָיו מְחוּבֶּרֶת חֲתִיכַת עֵץ שֶׁאֵלֵיהָ מְחוּבָּרִים סִיבִים (שְׂעָרוֹת).
I use a broomalmost every day to clean the dirt off the floor, but sometimes, when I don’t feel like sweeping, I turn on the iRobot—it does an excellent job!
אֲנִי מִשְׁתַּמֶּשֶׁת בְּמַטְאֲטֵא כִּמְעַט כָּל יוֹם כְּדֵי לְנַקּוֹת אֶת הַלִּכְלוּךְ מֵהָרִצְפָּה, אֲבָל לִפְעָמִים כְּשֶׁאֵין לִי כּוֹחַ לְטַאֲטֵא אֲנִי מַפְעִילָה הַ – iRobot. הוּא עוֹשֶׂה עֲבוֹדָה מְצוּיֶּנֶת!
I have a street broom (mata’ate kvish) in my home, or more precisely, in the yard. Its bristles (s’arot) are much thicker and stronger, and we use it to sweep the walkway.
יֵשׁ לִי בַּבַּיִת, יוֹתֵר נָכוֹן בַּגִּינָה, מַטְאֲטֵא כְּבִישׁ. הַסִּיבִים (שְׂעָרוֹת) שֶׁלּוֹ הַרְבֵּה יוֹתֵר עָבִים וַחֲזָקִים וַאֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בּוֹ כְּדֵי לְטַאֲטֵא אֶת הַשְּׁבִיל.
Some witches and wizards use a broom as a means of transportation—or more precisely, as a flying vehicle. In the Harry Potter book/movie, we read about or saw the wizards flying on broomsticks.
