To remember
To remember and never forget! This is a very important goal that the Jewish people have set for themselves, and for this purpose, the great institution of Yad Vashem was established.
לִזְכּוֹר וְלֹא לִשְׁכּוֹחַ!
זוֹהִי מַטָּרָה חֲשׁוּבָה מְ אוֹד שֶׁהָעָם הַיְּהוּדִי שָׁם לְעַצְמוֹ וּלְשֵׁם כָּךְ הוּקַם הַמּוֹסָד הָאַדִּיר שֶׁל יָד וָשֵׁם.
At Yad Vashem, every possible effort is made to remember every name, every person, and everything that happened there.
בְּיָד וָשֵׁם עוֹשִׂים אֶת כָּל מָה שֶׁאֶפְשָׁר כְּדֵי לִזְכּוֹר כָּל שֵׁם, כָּל אָדָם, כָּל דָּבָר שֶׁקָּרָה שָׁם.
One of the most significant actions that Yad Vashem takes to remember what happened is granting the title "Righteous Among the Nations" to those who helped Jews during World War II.
אַחַת מֵהַפְּעוּלּוֹת הַחֲשׁוּבוֹת מְאוֹד בְּעֵינַי, שֶׁיָּד וָשֵׁם עוֹשֶׂה כְּדֵי לִזְכּוֹר אֶת מָה שֶׁקָּרָה הוּא לְהַעֲנִיק תּוֹאַר שֶׁל חֲסִיד אוּמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם לְמִי שֶׁעָזַר לַיְּהוּדִים בִּזְמַן מִלְחֶמֶת הָעוֹלָם הַשְּׁנִיָּה.
As time passes and those who lived during World War II grow older and pass away, it becomes increasingly difficult to remember.
כְּכָל שֶׁעוֹבֵר הַזְּמַן וַאֲנָשִׁים שֶׁהָיוּ בִּזְמַן מִלְחֶמֶת הָעוֹלָם הַשְּׁנִיָּה מִזְדַּקְּנִים וְעוֹבְרִים מִן הָעוֹלָם קָשֶׁה יוֹתֵר וְיוֹתֵר לִזְכּוֹר.
