A branch - Branches
A branch is a part of a tree that comes out of the trunk and splits (divides) into smaller branches.
הֶעָנָף הוּא חֵלֶק מֵהָעֵץ שֶׁיּוֹצֵא מִתּוֹךְ הַגֶּזַע וּמִתְפַּצֵּל (מִתְחַלֵּק) לַעֲנָפִים קְטַנִּים יוֹתֵר.
Birds sit on the branches and build their nests between the branches.
עַל הָעֲנָפִים יוֹשְׁבוֹת צִיפּוֹרִים וּבֵין הָעֲנָפִים הֵן בּוֹנוֹת אֶת הַקִּינִים (רַבִּים שֶׁל קֵן = nest) שֶׁלָּהֶן.
If the branches are strong and thick, we can hang a swing or a cradle on them.
אִם הָעֲנָפִים חֲזָקִים וְעָבִים אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לִתְלוֹת עֲלֵיהֶם נַדְנֵדָה אוֹ עַרְסָל.
We also use the word branches to talk about sub-groups. For example:
Tennis, football, and basketball are branches of sport.
Breeding chickens to provide eggs, growing vegetables or fruits, and breeding cows to provide milk are different branches of the field of agriculture.
אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בַּמִּילָּה עֲנָפִים גַּם כְּדֵי לְדַבֵּר עַל תַּתֵּי קְבוּצוֹת. לְמָשָׁל:
טֶנִיס, כַּדּוּרֶגֶל וְכַדּוּרְסַל הֵם עַנְפֵי סְפּוֹרְט.
גִּידּוּל תַּרְנְגוֹלוֹת כְּדֵי לְסַפֵּק בֵּיצִים, גִּידּוּל יְרָקוֹת אוֹ פֵּירוֹת וְגִידּוּל פָּרוֹת כְּדֵי לְסַפֵּק חָלָב הֵם עֲנָפִים שׁוֹנִים שֶׁל תְּחוּם הַחַקְלָאוּת.
