Father – Mother
Dad and Mom are the parents of the classic family. It is also possible to use the words Father and Mother.
אַבָּא וְאִמָּא הֵם הַהוֹרִים שֶׁל הַמִּשְׁפָּחָה הַקְּלָאסִית. אֶפְשָׁר לְהִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ גַּם בַּמִּילִּים אָב וָאֵם.
In Israel, there is a cute custom in kindergartens: every Friday, the teacher decides that two kids, a boy and a girl, will be the Shabbat Dad and Mom.
בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל יֵשׁ מִנְהָג חָמוּד בְּגַּנֵי הַיְלָדִים: בְּכָל יוֹם שִׁישִּׁי הַגַּנֶּנֶת מַחְלִיטָה שֶׁזּוּג יְלָדִים: יַלְדָּה וְיֶלֶד יִהְיוּ אַבָּא וְאִמָּא שֶׁל שַׁבָּת.
Shabbat Mom lights the candles, and Shabbat Dad makes the blessing over the wine and the challah. It's a cute custom. I loved it when my children were in kindergarten.
אִמָּא שֶׁל שַׁבָּת מַדְלִיקָה אֶת הַנֵּרוֹת וְאַבָּא שֶׁל שַׁבָּת מְקַדֵּשׁ עַל הַיַּיִן וְהַחָלָה. מִנְהָג חָמוּד. אָהַבְתִּי אוֹתוֹ כְּשֶׁהַיְּלָדִים שֶׁלִּי הָיוּ בַּגַּן.
