To get married
The infinitive "to get married" evokes different emotions for different people.
שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל לְהִתְחַתֵּן מְעוֹרֵר רְגָשׁוֹת שׁוֹנִים אֵצֶל אֲנָשִׁים שׁוֹנִים.
Some young individuals deeply want to get married, and this infinitive stirs up romantic feelings and love within them. They dream of getting married and starting a family.
יֵשׁ כָּאֵלֶּה, צְעִירִים, שֶׁמַּמָּשׁ רוֹצִים לְהִתְחַתֵּן וְשֵׁם הַפֹּעַל הַזֶּה מְעוֹרֵר בָּהֶם רְגָשׁוֹת רוֹמַנְטִיִּים וְאַהֲבָה. הֵם רוֹצִים לְהִתְחַתֵּן וּלְהָקִים מִשְׁפָּחָה.
Others, who are a bit older, may have been married once or twice before and do not wish to marry again.
יֵשׁ כָּאֵלֶּה, קְצָת יוֹתֵר מְבוּגָּרִים, שֶׁאוּלַי הִתְחַתְּנוּ כְּבָר פַּעַם אַחַת אוֹ פַּעֲמַיִם וְלֹא רוֹצִים לְהִתְחַתֵּן שׁוּב.
Not long ago, I spoke with one of my students—he is 37 years old and not married. I asked him if he wanted to get married, and he told me that living with one woman in the same house for an entire lifetime doesn’t suit him.
לֹא מִזְּמַן דִּבַּרְתִּי עִם אֶחָד הַתַּלְמִידִים שֶׁלִּי, הוּא בֶּן 37 וְלֹא נָשׂוּי. שָׁאַלְתִּי אוֹתוֹ הַאִם הוּא רוֹצֶה לְהִתְחַתֵּן?
הוּא אָמַר לִי שֶׁהוּא חוֹשֵׁב שֶׁלִּחְיוֹת עִם אִשָּׁה אַחַת בְּאוֹתוֹ הַבַּיִת כָּל הַחַיִּים – זֶה לֹא מַתְאִים לוֹ.
Here are some sentences using the infinitive "to get married":
הִנֵּה כַּמָּה מִשְׁפָּטִים עִם שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל 'לְהִתְחַתֵּן':
1. During the first part of the Counting of the Omer, meaning until Lag BaOmer, it is customary not to get married.

2. פַּעַם הָיָה נָהוּג לְהִתְחַתֵּן בְּגִיל צָעִיר מְאוֹד, אַךְ כַּיּוֹם אֲנָשִׁים רַבִּים מַעֲדִיפִים לִדְחוֹת אֶת הַחֲתוּנָּה לְשָׁלַב מְאוּחָר יוֹתֵר בַּחַיִּים.
3. Before someone decides to get married, it is advisable to think carefully about the future, about the responsibilities that come with marriage, and the family they wish to establish.
3. לִפְנֵי שֶׁמִּישֶׁהוּ מַחְלִיט לְהִתְחַתֵּן, כְּדַאי לוֹ לַחֲשׁוֹב הֵיטֵב עַל הֶעָתִיד, עַל הָאַחְרָיוּת שֶׁבָּאָה עִם הַנִּישּׂוּאִין וְעַל הַמִּשְׁפָּחָה שֶׁהוּא רוֹצֶה לְהָקִים.
4. The decision to get married is not just a contract between two individuals, but also a bond between two souls, seeking to discover existential meaning through love, commitment, and shared growth.
