Rose - Roses
The Hebrew name of the flower "Rose" reminds us of the pink color, but we have roses in all kinds of colors: white, yellow, red.
הַשֵּׁם שֶׁל הַפֶּרַח וֶרֶד מַזְכִּיר לָנוּ אֶת הַצֶּבַע הַוָּרוֹד אֲבָל יֵשׁ לָנוּ וְרָדִים בְּכָל מִינֵי צְבָעִים: לָבָן, צָהוֹב, אָדוֹם.
The rose is a flower that is used to symbolize love. Not long ago, we celebrated Valentine’s Day – did you give a rose to your partner?
הַוֶּרֶד הוּא פֶּרַח שֶׁמְּשַׁמֵּשׁ לְצַיֵּן אַהֲבָה.
לֹא מִזְּמַן חָגַגְנוּ אֶת יוֹם הָאַהֲבָה – הַאִם נְתַתֶּם וֶרֶד לְבֵן/ בַּת הַזּוּג שֶׁלָּכֶם?
The word "Rose" is also used in Israel as a personal name for girls, with different variations of the name such as: Vardit, Varda, and Vardina.
הַמִּילָּה וֶרֶד מְשַׁמֶּשֶׁת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל גַּם כְּשֵׁם פְּרָטִי לְבַת, וְגַם גִּרְסָאוֹת שׁוֹנוֹת שֶׁל הַמִּילָּה כְּמוֹ: וַרְדִּית, וַרְדָּה, וַרְדִּינָה.
