עוֹלֶה בְּקָנֶה אֶחָד

Rising with one cane

קָנֶה

is a long, thin, hollow stick, similar to a tube.

קָנֶה הוּא מַקֵּל אָרוֹךְ דַּק וְחָלוּל, דּוֹמֶה לְצִינּוֹר.

Note of the following terms:

Sugarcane – a thin stalk from which sugar is extracted.
Trachea (windpipe) – a tube rising from the lungs through which air enters the body.

שִׂימוּ לֵב לַמּוּשָּׂגִים הַבָּאִים:

קְנֵה סוּכָּר – גִּבְעוֹל דַּק שֶׁמִּמֶּנּוֺ מְפִיקִים אֶת הַסּוּכָּר.

קְנֵה נְשִׁימָה – צִינּוֹר הָעוֹלֶה מִתּוֹךְ הָרֵיאוֹת שֶׁדַּרְכּוֹ נִכְנַס הָאֲוִיר אֶל הַגּוּף.

If we have two things that "fit in the same reed," they need to match in terms of size, thickness, and direction.

In a metaphorical sense, we use this expression to mean that two things are compatible or aligned.

אִם יֵשׁ לָנוּ שְׁנֵי דְּבָרִים שֶׁעוֹלִים בְּקָנֶה אֶחָד הֵם צְרִיכִים לְהַתְאִים מִבְּחִינַת הַגּוֹדֶל, הָעוֹבִי וְהַכִּיוּוּן.

כָּךְ אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בְּאוֹפֶן מֵטָאפוֹרִי בַּבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה כַּאֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ מִתְכַּוְּנִים שֶׁשְּׁנֵי דְּבָרִים מַתְאִימִים.

For example: "My ideas align with the aspirations of the company, and therefore I feel that I can fulfill myself here."

לְדוּגְמָא: הָרַעֲיוֹנוֹת שֶׁלִּי עוֹלִים בְּקָנֶה אֶחָד עִם הַשְּׁאִיפוֹת שֶׁל הַחֶבְרָה וְלָכֵן אֲנִי מַרְגִּישָׁה שֶׁאֲנִי יְכוֹלָה לְהַגְשִׁים אֶת עַצְמִי כָּאן.
